Good Grand Prix second for Talismanic

Talismanic went down fighting when the neck second to Silverwave in the 12-furlong G2 Grand Prix de Chantilly at Chantilly, France, on Sunday, June 4. 

The four-year-old colt, with Mickael Barzalona in the saddle as usual, was well away in the five-runner race and soon led before Apilobar went on.

The Andre Fabre-trained son of Medaglia d’Oro raced in second before ranging up besides the leader in the straight and regaining the lead with a furlong and a half to go.

Talismanic went for home and battled on when joined and then passed by Silverwave inside the final furlong. The winning time on ground described as good to soft came to 2m 29.45s, with Apilobar three quarters of a length behind the Godolphin horse in third.

Godolphin’s Lisa-Jane Graffard reported: “Talismanic ran a great race – there are no excuses as he was beaten by a better horse.

“Talismanic is a very straightforward colt and just coming to himself.

“We are looking to the second half of the season now and would love to travel with him.”
