A drop back in distance and a step up in class confront Ghisoni in the G2 Arrowfield 3YO Sprint at Randwick on Saturday, April 9.

Unbeaten in her only three starts before finishing sixth against her own sex in the 1500m, G1 Coolmore Stakes at her most recent appearance, Ghisoni (John O'Shea/James McDonald) meets a field that includes some smart colts at Randwick.

But trainer John O'Shea is expecting a stronger showing over the 1200m trip.

"She's done extra well since her last run and has put in a couple of pieces of nice work in the last week or so," O'Shea said.

"We've always thought a lot of her and it may be that she just wasn't suited over the extra ground at this stage of her career.

"They ran some pretty smart sectionals in that race and she was up on the speed and did a good job to finish as close as she did."

Ghisoni heads Godolphion's support cast at Randwick's Queen Elizabeth II Stakes meeting at which the stable has good prospects in three G1 races.

The team is completed by Palomino in the G3 Percy Sykes Stakes, a race in which the filly will be attempting break through for her maiden win.

"She's been going around in some strong form races lately and this probably doesn't present a big jump in class," O'Shea said.

"It's certainly asking something of her, but we expect her to be competitive."

A similar task confronts Ottoman (John O'Shea/James McDonald) in the G3 Sapphire Stakes, a race in which she takes on some classy fillies, including the recent G1 winner Griante.

"Our filly is capable of mixing it with these, it's just a matter of getting it all together on the day," O'Shea said.

The day's line-up is completed by Handfast (John O'Shea/James McDonald) in the Listed South Pacific Classic and Obscura (John O'Shea/James McDonald) in the Listed Fernhill Handicap.
