G3 second for Dubai Love in UAE Oaks

Racenews

Three-year-old Dubai Love gained some valuable G3 Black Type on dirt when coming home second in the extended nine-furlong UAE Oaks at Meydan, UAE, on Thursday, 20 February.

The Saeed bin Suroor-trained Night Of Thunder filly, an easy winner of the Listed UAE Guineas at the same course on Thursday, 23 January, was pushed along leaving the stalls to dispute second with Ascot Brass as Down On Da Bayou led the six runners.

Dubai Love moved up to a clear second for Pat Cosgrave entering the back straight but could not challenge the UAE Guineas runner-up Down On Da Bayou turning in, with the Godolphin runner coming home 18 and a half lengths behind the impressive winner.

Pat Cosgrave said: “Dubai Love has done well but was no match for Down On Da Bayou today. She didn’t do anything wrong - the winner was just too good. There are no excuses and she was beaten by a better horse today.”
