G2 Prix Corrida challenge for Kitesurf

Racenews

Kitesurf is out to follow up on an impressive seasonal return as she goes for the extended 10-furlong G2 Prix Corrida at Saint-Cloud, France, on Monday, 21 May.

The four-year-old Dubawi filly, trained by Andre Fabre, ran on well to beat Listen In by two lengths in the G3 Prix Allez France over a mile and a quarter at Longchamp on 29 April, the shortest distance she had contested since her debut in March, 2017.

Kitesurf finished fifth on her only previous visit to Saint-Cloud, in the G1 Prix Royal-Oak over a much longer trip - just short of two miles - in October.

She previously showed a decent level of form over shorter distances, including a comfortable win in the 12-furlong G3 Prix de Royaumont at Chantilly in June.

Mickael Barzalona again takes the mount on Kitesurf and her seven rivals in the Prix Corrida include G1 Prix Vermeille winner Bateel, G3 scorer Haggle and Listen In.

Lisa-Jane Graffard of Godolphin said: “Kitesurf came out of her win in the Prix Allez France very well and this race is the logical next step for her.

“We were delighted with her performance last time out because she was coming back from a lay-off and carrying a penalty.

“She has done well from three to four and we hope that she has a big season ahead of her.”
