French Guineas the target for Persian King

Racenews

Persian King is on target for the French Guineas, the G1 Emirates Poule d'Essai des Poulains (1m), at Longchamp, 12 May.

His trainer Andre Fabre is pleased with the three-year-old Kingman colt, who made all for an impressive success in the G3 Prix de Fontainebleau over the same course and distance on his reappearance a week ago (14 April).

Andre Fabre said: “Persian King is in great form and on course to run in the French Guineas.

“The door is not entirely shut to Newmarket (G1, 1m, 2,000 Guineas, May 4) if there was a deluge at Longchamp. This is unlikely and therefore he is 90 per cent sure to run in France.”

Persian King, the highest-rated two-year-old trained in France last year, is unbeaten in four starts since finishing second on his racecourse debut.
