Fairy Cross enhances reputation with G3 Prestige Stakes victory

Racenews

Two-year-old filly Fairy Cross continued a bright start to her career as she made all to comfortably take the seven-furlong G3 Prestige Stakes at Goodwood, UK, on Saturday, 27 August.

The Charlie Appleby-trained daughter of Dubawi, runner-up in a Sandown Park Listed race on her previous start, broke smartly and soon established a half-length advantage.

After kicking for home entering the final quarter-mile, Fairy Cross readily increased her lead before being eased close home by William Buick for a length verdict.

William Buick said: “Fairy Cross is a very uncomplicated filly, who jumped well and relaxed in front. She was very comfortable on the lead and quickened up really well when I asked her. She put the race to bed quite quickly, which is always a good sign.

“The G1 Fillies’ Mile is an obvious end of season target but she is quite speedy, so we will see what connections decide to do.”
