The Exosphere star is soaring again following a trial at Randwick his jockey described as "stunning" and which fully justified trainer John O'Shea's faith in the colt.

"It's all systems go, he was back to his best without a doubt," said Godolphin jockey James McDonald after partnering Exosphere in a faultless display at Randwick on Friday, March 18.

Exosphere trialled over 1050m on a heavy track, cruising home in 34.9 seconds for his final 600m.

"He went through his paces beautifully, he was stunning," McDonald said.

"He's come on a lot since his last run. He was his old self today."

At his most recent start, Exosphere finished fourth in the G1 Lightning Stakes in Melbourne last month.

O'Shea said he regarded the Lightning run as "outstanding" under the circumstances, suggesting the colt's latest trial performance confirmed that opinion.

"He did what I expected him to do this morning," he said.

"We'll go to the TJ Smith now."

The G1 TJ Smith Stakes is run over 1200m at Randwick on April 2.

Exosphere, a three-year-old son of Lonhro has won five of his nine starts, including three at G2 level, along with the G1 Golden Rose Stakes, emerging as Sydney's star younger sprinter of last Spring following his spectacular win in the G2 Roman Consul Stakes.
