Erasmo secures breakthrough G3 in Prix Paul de Moussac

Erasmo was rewarded for a string of excellent efforts with a first G3 victory in the Prix Paul de Moussac over a mile at Chantilly, France, on Sunday, 20 June.

The three-year-old had already proven himself a model of consistency for Andre Fabre having finished in the first three in all six previous starts, including a pair of seven-furlong Listed wins.

After breaking smartly for Mickael Barzalona, Erasmo soon settled in fourth on the outside of Moai as Perseverants and Paco led the seven runners.

Erasmo moved up to press for the lead two furlongs out and quickened well to take up the running from Perseverants just inside the final furlong.

The Godolphin colt had enough in reserve to see off the late challenge of Best Lightning, holding on gamely for a short-neck success.

Lisa-Jane Graffard of Godolphin said: “Erasmo is a very brave horse, who never runs a bad race, and this is a fantastic result for him.

“We will see how he comes out of the race but he has been kept busy so far this season. We may give him a break before bringing him back for the autumn, possibly looking at one of the races on Arc weekend.”
