Enticed out to take Holy Bull by the horns

Racenews

Exciting three-year-old colt Enticed gets his 2018 campaign under way in the G2 Holy Bull Stakes over an extended mile on dirt at Gulfstream Park, USA, on Saturday, 3 February.

The Kiaran McLaughlin-trained son of Medaglia d’Oro won on two of his three starts last year including when gamely beating Tiz Mischief by a head in the G2 Kentucky Jockey Club Stakes over the same distance at Churchill Downs on 25 November.

Enticed kept on to take third in the G1 Champagne Stakes over a mile at Belmont Park in October and made an impressive debut in September with a cosy win in a six-furlong Saratoga maiden.

Joel Rosario comes in for the ride on Enticed, who breaks from stall one in a field of 11 that also features Tiz Mischief, G1 Claiborne Breeders' Futurity winner Free Drop Billy and dual Aqueduct scorer Audible.

Kiaran McLaughlin said: “Enticed has done everything right and we are very happy with him.

“He didn’t have a perfect trip in the Champagne, but showed a lot of guts in in the Kentucky Jockey Club Stakes, when he was in a little tight the whole way and took some dirt.

“It was an excellent performance and we hope that he can repeat the run again on Saturday.

“The colt he beat at Churchill Downs, Tiz Mischief, is probably the one for us to overcome again and this will be a key race to see how Enticed stacks up.”
