Dollar Second For Fractional

Fractional battled well to take second in the Group Two Qatar Prix Dollar over just short of 10 furlongs at Longchamp, France, on Saturday, October 3.

The Andre Fabre-trained six-year-old, successful in the same race 12 months ago, broke well and soon raced in sixth of the eight runners.

He was switched out by Mickael Barzalona in the straight and ran on to briefly go second just inside the final furlong.

Fractional rallied when passed by Free Port Lux and regained the runner-up spot from Air Pilot on the line to go down by three-quarters of a length.

Free Port Lux won in 1m 59.58s on good ground, with Fractional coming home a nose ahead of Air Pilot.

Lisa-Jane Graffard of Godolphin commented: "Fractional put in a very good performance and it was lovely to see him run so well. Everything was in his favour today - the ground was ideal and the pace of the race was not too quick.

"He has given us plenty of fun over the past few seasons and we will see how he comes out of this race before making any plans."

Godolphin's other runner in the Qatar Prix Dollar, French Navy (Charlie Appleby/William Buick), raced freely at the rear of the field before quickening to press the leaders inside the final furlong but could find no extra near the line and finished sixth.
