The five-year-old mare, ridden by Joel Rosario, was prominent early but gradually dropped back to race last of the six runners.

The daughter of Bernardini began to make progress on the far side and went fourth turning for home. She still had plenty of ground to make up on the first three in the straight but caught Mel Ling by a nose for third, with I'm A Chatterbox winning from Paid Up Subscriber in 2m 2.64s.

Kiaran McLaughlin commented: "Penwith's form had tailed off so it is really nice that she ran well.

"She is now a Grade Two winner and Grade One placed which is pleasing.

"We will look for another race in two to three weeks' time."
