Darley Irish Oaks bid by Bean Feasa

Racenews

Bean Feasa races over a mile and a half for the first time in the G1 Darley Irish Oaks at the Curragh, Ireland, on Saturday, July 15.

The Jim Bolger-trained daughter of Dubawi stormed to an impressive victory over a mile in the G3 1,000 Guineas Trial at Leopardstown on May 7 before going on to come home fifth in the G1 Irish 1,000 Guineas over the same trip at the Curragh, on May 28.

She also ran over a mile on her latest appearance when 12th in the Listed Sandringham Handicap at Royal Ascot on June 21.

Bean Feasa, with Kevin Manning again in the saddle, lines up against nine other three-year-old fillies including G1 Oaks heroine Enable, G1 Pretty Polly Stakes runner-up Rain Goddess and Coronet, who took the G2 Ribblesdale Stakes at Royal Ascot.

Jimmy Hyland of Godolphin said: “We were disappointed with Bean Feasa at Royal Ascot.

“No real reason came to light for that run but we are expecting an improved performance with the step up in trip.

“She won the Guineas Trial on good to firm and we are expecting similar ground this weekend, which will also suit.”
