Creative Force continues upward curve at Newbury

Racenews

Improving sprinter Creative Force made it four wins from five starts with an authoritative display in the six-furlong Listed Carnarvon Stakes at Newbury, UK, on Saturday, 15 May.

The Charlie Appleby-trained son of Dubawi, whose three previous victories had all come over the same distance at Newmarket, broke smartly and soon tracked Mishal Star as the duo raced away from their five rivals early on.

Creative Force found himself in mid-division as the field converged after the first quarter-mile and unleashed an impressive turn of foot approaching the final furlong to put the race to bed in a matter of strides.

He readily opened up daylight before being eased on the line by James Doyle, coming home three lengths clear of Spycatcher.

James Doyle said: “I was very impressed with Creative Force. There didn’t look to be much pace on paper and Charlie said that he is much better with targets to aim at. I was very keen to let him be patient early and let him come into his own in the latter stages of the race.

“He has a great attitude and has taken each step with a great deal of ease. I was pretty impressed with the way he quickened up and he can certainly make his presence felt at a higher level.”
