Anamoe crowned Champion Three-Year-Old in Australia

Anamoe’s stunning exploits last season were recognised at the 2022 Australian Racing Awards in Melbourne on Saturday, with the homebred colt receiving the Champion 3YO Colt or Gelding award.

Having ended his juvenile campaign with victory in the Sires’ Produce Stakes, Anamoe enjoyed further top-level success during the 2021/22 season in the Caulfield Guineas and Rosehill Guineas. He was narrowly denied in three more G1 contests, including going down by a short-head to State Of Rest in the G1 Cox Plate.

Anamoe made a brilliant return to action in August when taking the Winx Stakes at Royal Randwick, making him only the third Godolphin horse to win G1 races at two, three and four.

A return to Moonee Valley for another crack at the Cox Plate remains the prime objective for the son of Street Boss, with the G1 George Main Stakes later this month a likely target in the interim.

Troach posted a win of her own at Moonee Valley on Saturday as the three-year-old filly picked up valuable Listed Black Type in the Atlantic Jewel Stakes.

Godolphin lost one of its brightest stars on Sunday as 2,000 Guineas and St James’s Palace Stakes winner Coroebus unfortunately sustained a fatal injury in the Prix du Moulin de Longchamp.

In the UK, Mischief Magic became the eighth Godolphin juvenile from Moulton Paddocks to win a Group or Listed race this season with a breathtaking display in the G3 Sirenia Stakes at Kempton Park on Saturday.

Fellow two-year-old Naval Power had already enjoyed Listed success at Ascot in July and the unbeaten colt enhanced his reputation when defying a penalty in the Listed Ascendant Stakes on the same day at Haydock Park.

Doncaster hosts the G1 St Leger this Saturday and New London will be aiming to provide Godolphin with an eighth success in the final Classic of the UK season.

Derby and King George hero Adayar makes his four-year-old return at the same meeting, with two-year-olds Silver Knott, Victory Dance and Highbank also entered during the week.

Eternal Pearl captured last month’s G3 Prix Minerve at Deauville and the progressive filly is set to return to France for the G1 Prix Vermeille, highlight of Longchamp’s Arc Trials card on Sunday
