Al Suhail hoping to add to seven-furlong haul in G2 Lennox Stakes

Racenews

Al Suhail returns to seven furlongs for the G2 Lennox Stakes on day one of Glorious Goodwood, Tuesday, 1 August.

The son of Dubawi has scored five times over the distance for Charlie Appleby, including comprehensive victories at Meydan this year in the G2 Al Fahidi Fort and Ras Al Khor.

Dropped to six furlongs for his last two starts, Al Suhail was narrowly beaten into third in the G1 Al Quoz Sprint on Dubai World Cup Night before a creditable sixth in the G1 Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Stakes at Royal Ascot.

Charlie Appleby said: “Al Suhail has come out of Ascot well, although he has a penalty here for his win in the Al Fahidi Fort. I’m looking forward to seeing him back over seven, which is probably his best trip, and the course at Goodwood might suit. We will be keeping an eye on the weather as his participation would be in doubt if there was significant rain.”
