Racenews

Aft Cabin made an impressive comeback at Randwick on Saturday, ahead of the eagerly awaited returns of Anamoe and In Secret at the Sydney track this weekend.

On his first appearance since dominating the Caulfield Guineas Prelude in September, Aft Cabin posted another routine G3 victory in the Eskimo Prince Stakes.

His reward looks set to be a clash with Golden Mile in the G2 Hobartville Sakes later this month, with the Astern colts set to head in different directions afterwards for the Randwick Guineas and Australian Guineas.

Two-year-old colt Zulfiqar also created a huge impression in Australia on Saturday as the son of Exceed And Excel took out the G3 Chairman's Stakes at Sandown. He could now attempt to provide Godolphin with a second straight success in the G1 Blue Diamond Stakes later this month.

Anamoe enjoyed a golden spring, taking his G1 tally to seven with victories in the Winx Stakes, George Main Stakes, Might And Power Stakes and Cox Plate, and Godolphin’s most prolific top-level winner is due to run in the G2 Apollo Stakes on Saturday.

Crack filly In Secret enjoyed top-level success of her own last year, readily taking the Coolmore Stud Stakes in October, and she looks set to make her first appearance since that victory in the G2 Light Fingers Stakes on the same Randwick card.

Godolphin horses continue to make hay at the Dubai World Cup Carnival, with a treble on week five including Valiant Prince completing the Al Rashidiya-Singspiel Stakes double.

Benbatl and Dream Castle captured the same two races before graduating to G1 honours at Meydan, and Valiant Prince will be hoping to emulate the duo with victory in the Jebel Hatta on Super Saturday.

With The Moonlight had a productive spell in the United States last year and the full-sister to Dream Castle booked her return to North America with victory in the G2 Cape Verdi. In the meantime, she is due to aim for more Meydan success in the G2 Balanchine later this month.

King Of Conquest and Warren Point added to Godolphin’s previous two winners in Bahrain on Friday, with the latter earning a potential trip to Qatar following victory in the Listed His Royal Highness Prince Salman Bin Hamad Bin Isa Al Khalifa Cup.

Speed takes centre stage on week six of the Dubai World Cup Carnival, with Lazuli and Man Of Promise set to re-oppose in the G2 Blue Point Sprint, while Sovereign Prince could be a first Godolphin runner at Jebel Ali for five years in Saturday’s G3 Jebel Ali Mile.
