Adayar & Yibir acquit themselves well in G3 Classic Trial

Racenews

Adayar and Yibir made promising starts to their three-year-old campaigns when finishing second and third in the G3 Classic Trial at Sandown Park, UK, on Friday, 23 April.

Both homebred colts were making their Group-race debuts for Charlie Appleby in the 10-furlong contest, with Yibir (William Buick) establishing a narrow lead after a furlong as Adayar (James Doyle) raced towards the rear after breaking slowly.

Yibir kicked for home three furlongs out and fought back after being headed by Alenquer soon after. The son of Dubawi rallied to dispute the running passing the furlong-pole but could not go with Alenquer in the closing stages.

Adayar was switched out over two furlongs from home and stayed on strongly up the Sandown hill, collaring his stable-companion near the line to go down by half a length. Yibir finished a neck further in arrears, with nearly four lengths back to fourth home Lone Eagle.

Charlie Appleby said: “Adayar and Yibir have finished off their races well and I am very pleased with their efforts.

“Yibir has stuck at it all the way to the line, while Adayar stayed on well. They have put up two very solid performances and a step up in distance could be on the cards for both colts, who look nice middle-distance horses for the rest of the season.”
