Magny Cours motors home in G3 Prix Perth

Racenews

Magny Cours gained reward for a string of consistent efforts this year with a first G3 success in the mile Prix Perth at Saint-Cloud, France, on Saturday, 23 October.

The son of Medaglia d’Oro had won or placed on all but one of his seven previous appearances this year for Andre Fabre, including a third in the G1 Dubai World Cup Sponsored By Emirates Airline in March.

Covered up towards the rear of the nine runners, Magny Cours quickened strongly after being switched out to deliver his challenge approaching the final quarter-mile. He collared Century Dream in the final strides for a cosy half-length verdict under Mickael Barzalona.

Lisa-Jane Graffard of Godolphin said: “We are delighted to see Magny Cours win a Group race. He had issues in the past but has looked a different horse since coming back from Dubai earlier in the year and has taken his racing really well.”

“We are looking at international options over the winter, with the long-term objective of going back for the Dubai World Cup again.”
