Winter Hill bid by Best Of Days

Racenews

Best Of Days makes his third appearance of 2017 in the G3 Winter Hill Stakes over 10 furlongs at Windsor, UK, on Saturday, August 26.

The three-year-old Azamour colt, trained by Hugo Palmer, finished 12th on his comeback in the 12-furlong G2 King Edward VII Stakes at Royal Ascot on June 23 before taking third in the 10-furlong Listed Steventon Stakes at Newbury on July 22.

Best Of Days was successful on two of his three starts last year and ended the 2016 campaign with a neck success in the mile G2 Royal Lodge Stakes at Newmarket in September.

Hugo Palmer said: “Best Of Days ran a super race in ground he hated at Newbury last time out.

“It was great to see him on the way back and Oisin said it was only the horse’s guts and class that allowed him to finish third. A lesser animal would have dropped right away.

“I hope back on a sounder surface we can resume the progress and promise he showed last year.

“After the setback he had in the spring, he has only had two starts and is a fresh horse for the autumn.”

Best Of Days, partnered by Oisin Murphy again, faces seven rivals including G3 scorers Autocractic and Frankuus, plus Cambridgeshire Handicap victor Spark Plug.
