Warren Point & King of Conquest double up in Bahrain

Racenews

Warren Point and King Of Conquest set course records when posting decisive victories in Bahrain on Friday, 3 February.

Both Charlie Appleby-trained four-year-olds were ridden by Richard Mullen, with Warren Point notching back-to-back Listed wins in the feature His Royal Highness Prince Salman Bin Hamad Bin Isa Al Khalifa Cup.

Dropping down to 10 furlongs, Warren Point settled in sixth of the 15 runners before graduating to third at the top of the straight. The son of Dubawi took up the running approaching the final furlong and readily took command, coming home three lengths clear of Tawaareq.

King Of Conquest also showed a good turn of foot in the Anchorman Cup as he hit the front inside the final furlong before going away to score by a length from Classical Wave in the nine-furlong handicap.

Charlie Appleby said: “We are delighted with the performances of both horses. They are two nice, progressive types and the team in Dubai have done a great job preparing them. Well done to Richard Mullen, who gave them nice positive rides, and it is great to have a couple of winners in Bahrain.

“We will see how Warren Point comes out of this but we might consider taking him to Qatar for the Amir Trophy or alternatively aim for something like the Dubai City Of Gold on Super Saturday.”
