Tassort to miss Slipper lead-up

Mike Hedge

The reigning Golden Slipper favourite has suffered a slight setback that could cost him his chance in the G1 Golden Slipper Stakes on Saturday, 23 March.

The colt who has been at the head of the betting since his first up win earlier in the autumn has suffered a minor issue with bruising to the off-fore foot. The colt will be kept in training with the G2 Pago Pago Stakes on Saturday week his next goal.

“Tassort has a minor issue that makes it difficult for me to prepare him properly for the Todman Stakes,” trainer James Cummings said.

“I will ease off the throttle over the next few days, meaning he will miss some work, and I will aim him at the Pago Pago Stakes on Saturday week.”

“At this stage I would rate Tassort a 50/50 chance to run in the Slipper.”
