Sweet Solera second for La Pelosa

Racenews

La Pelosa stayed on well to chase home Main Edition for a second time in the G3 Sweet Solera Stakes over seven furlongs at Newmarket, UK, on Saturday, 11 August.

The two-year-old daughter of Dandy Man, beaten a neck by the same filly in the six-furlong G3 Albany Stakes at Royal Ascot in June, raced behind the leaders in third of the seven runners early on for Brett Doyle.

La Pelosa quickened between horses to take second a furlong and a half from home and galloped all the way to the line, going down by a length and quarter to Main Edition, who made all to win in 1m 27.31 on ground described as good to soft, soft in places.

Trainer Charlie Appleby commented: “La Pelosa has produced another good performance in a Group race and backed up the form of her second at Royal Ascot. She has handled the softer conditions and seen the trip out well.

“We will see how she comes out of the race and might look at the Prestige Stakes (G3, 7f) at Goodwood (25 August) for her next.”
