Experience and consistency under all conditions earned Malice yet another stakes placing when he took third in the G3 Tattersall's Cup at Eagle Farm on Saturday, June 25.

Along with his stablemate Mogador, who finished third in the G3 WJ Healey Stakes, the pair kept the Godolphin colours in the frame on the final day of the Brisbane Winter carnival.

Ridden a perfect race by Damian Browne, Malice looked a likely winner when he cruised to the lead with 250m to run only to be collared by the winner Index Linked and then Tucanchoo in the final 100m.

"He's been a very genuine performer for us throughout last spring, right through to the winter," said trainer John O'Shea.

"He'll probably have a rest now and we'll work out a program for him later in the year."

A winner at Listed level, Malice has now been placed six times in stakes races.

Malice's effort was matched by that of Mogador who faced a strong field in the Healy.

"I would have preferred for him to have stayed at home after seeing how the track was playing," O'Shea said.

"Under the circumstances he's done very well."

Mogador finished almost six lengths from the winner Into The Red after being bogged down on the worst part of the track from his inside gate.

While Godolphin's Eagle Farm contingent fared moderately, the improving Farolitos found reward for his consistency with victory in the non-graded Racing To Win Handicap at Randwick.

Aided by a copybook ride from Tim Clarke, Farolitos swooped on the lead inside the 200m to score by three-quarters of a length.

"He'd always shown us enough to keep him going through to the winter and today everything worked out for him and he was able to take advantage of it," O'Shea said.

The four-year-old son of Medaglia d'Oro scored by three-quarters of a length from Berry Delicious.
