Siskany third in G3 Red Sea Turf Handicap

Racenews

Siskany posted a first placing at G3 level when coming home third in the Red Sea Turf Handicap on the Saudi Cup undercard at King Abdulaziz Racetrack in Riyadh on Saturday, 26 February.

The Dubawi four-year-old, stretching out to a mile and seven furlongs following a decisive win in the Listed Al Khail Trophy at Meydan in January, broke smartly and soon settled in third under James Doyle.

Siskany appeared full of running when taking second entering the straight but could not get on terms with Stay Foolish and kept on at the same pace, with Sonnyboyliston passing the Charlie Appleby-trained runner inside the final furlong.

James Doyle said: “I’m very happy with Siskany. The ground was probably a touch quick for him and I’m not too sure whether he quite gets the trip, but he travelled round super. Full credit to the winner, who quickened away well.”
