Shinzan Kinen bid by Shadow Emperor

Shadow Emperor drops back to a mile for the G3 Shinzan Kinen at Kyoto, Japan, on Sunday, 6 January.

The three-year-old colt, trained by Inao Okada, kept on at the same pace to come home fifth in a 10-furlong allowance race at the same course on 11 November. 

Shadow Emperor made two appearances over a mile, winning a newcomers’ race at Hanshin in September before finishing fifth in the G3 Saudi Arabia Royal Cup at Tokyo the following month. 

Ridden by Ryuji Wada, who was on board for the first two outings, he breaks from stall 11 in a field of 12 which also includes G2 Daily Hai Nisai Stakes third Happy Hour and Intruse, a dual winner at Tokyo.
