Rallying third for Shared Sense in G3 Lukas Classic

Racenews

Shared Sense produced a spirited display to come home third behind leading Breeders’ Cup Classic contender Knicks Go in the nine-furlong G3 Lukas Classic at Churchill Downs, USA, on Saturday, 2 October.

The son of Street Sense, a dual G3 winner for Brad Cox in 2020, broke on terms and soon raced in a clear fourth under Brian Hernandez Jr as Knicks Go led the six runners.

Tacitus relegated Shared Sense to fifth down the back straight, with the Godolphin four-year-old staying on down the inside rail turning in to dispute third with a furlong and a half left.

Shared Sense continued to battle with Tacitus all the way to the line, passing the post a head in front of the multiple G1 place-getter and going down by five and a half lengths in total.

Godolphin USA President Jimmy Bell said: “The most impressive thing with Shared Sense was that he battled a very seasoned performer in Tacitus – our horse showed some real grit and outfought him to the wire. I thought it was a very courageous effort to be third in a strong race for the level.”
