Racing History returns to Germany for G1 Grosser Preis von Bayern

Racenews

Lightly-raced six-year-old Racing History makes only his second appearance in the space of two years in the G1 Grosser Preis von Bayern at Munich, Germany, on Thursday, 1 November.

The Pivotal horse finished second in the 12-furlong contest in 2016 and came back to Germany when third on his only subsequent appearance in the G1 Grosser Preis von Berlin over the same distance at Hoppegarten in August, 2017.

Racing History, trained by Saeed bin Suroor, was the comfortable winner of the 10-furlong G3 Winter Hill Stakes at Windsor in August, 2015, and went on to finish fourth in the G1 Champion Stakes, also over a mile and a quarter, at Ascot later the same year.

He faces six rivals in the Grosser Preis von Bayern including Defoe, Iquitos and Windstoss, who were second, third and fourth behind another Godolphin horse Best Solution in this year’s G1 Grosser Preis von Baden, plus G1 Derby runner-up Dee Ex Bee.

Saeed bin Suroor, seeking a fourth G1 success in Germany this year, commented: “Racing History has had his problems.

“He was unsound for a long time, but has being going well at home recently.

“He will come on for his first start of the year, but I have been happy with his work and I am looking for a good run.”
