Pleasing G3 Chantilly victory for progressive Kitesurf

Racenews

Kitesurf was the decisive winner of the G3 Prix de Royaumont when stepping up in class at Chantilly, France, on Sunday, June 4.

The three-year-old Dubawi filly, trained by Andre Fabre and partnered by Mickael Barzalona, was always going well in the 12-furlong race on good to soft turf.

She was settled in third of the nine runners on the outside as the other Godolphin contender, Glittering Jewel (Charlie Appleby/William Buick), raced a bit keenly in second behind the pace-setting Musawaah.

Kitesurf and Glittering Jewel were asked for their efforts after entering the straight, with the former moving up to challenge with two furlongs remaining and the latter starting to weaken.

The Godolphin winner went to the front a furlong and a half out and ran on well to establish a clear advantage, beating the closing Bebe d’Amour comfortably by a length and a quarter, with another length and three quarters back to the third Lady Paname in 2m 29.62s.

Lisa-Jane Graffard of Godolphin commented: “Kitesurf won really well and is progressing all the time.

“She was suited by the good pace in the race and everything went her way.

“We haven’t talked about targets yet but will do so shortly.”
