Munich G1 bid by Prize Money and Best Solution

Racenews

Prize Money and Best Solution head to Munich, Germany, on Sunday, July 30, in search of a first G1 victory in the Grosser Dallmayr-Preis.

Both Saeed bin Suroor-trained contenders drop down to a mile and a quarter after racing over a mile and a half at Royal Ascot.

Prize Money (Oisin Murphy) faded to 11th in the G2 Hardwicke Stakes on June 24, after starting the year in superb form at Meydan, UAE.

The four-year-old son of Authorized came fourth in the 12-furlong G1 Dubai Sheema Classic and twice scored over the same course and distance, including when the neck winner over Postponed in the G2 Dubai City Of Gold.

Three-year-old Best Solution (Gerald Mosse) was denied a clear run when coming home 10th behind Permian in the G2 King Edward VII Stakes, having finished eighth in the G1 Derby, also over a mile and a half, at Epsom Downs on June 3.

The Kodiac colt, a G3 winner at Newmarket in 2016, powered to a decisive victory in a Lingfield Park Listed contest over half a furlong shorter on May 13, and was runner-up in the 10-furlong G1 Criterium de Saint-Cloud at Saint-Cloud in October.

Saeed bin Suroor commented: “Prize Money has been working well and I have been happy with him since Royal Ascot.

“The drop back to a mile and a quarter should be fine and he heads to Germany in good order.

“A mile and a quarter will be no problem for Best Solution as he has shown speed in his races and he has been in good form at home.

“Both horses have a good chance of running a big race.”

Prize Money and Best Solution take on nine rivals including G1 Grosser Preis von Baden winner Iquitos, Italian G1 victor Potemkin and this year’s G1 Deutsches Derby runner-up Enjoy Vijay.
