Master Of The Seas narrowly beaten in G1 Jebel Hatta

Racenews

Master Of The Seas finished strongly after meeting significant trouble in running to come home a close third in the G1 Jebel Hatta Sponsored by emirates.com at Meydan on Super Saturday, 4 March.

The Dubawi homebred, who had set a course record in the G2 Zabeel Mile on his seasonal return for Charlie Appleby in January, was a little awkward leading the stalls and soon settled behind the leaders.

El Drama tacked across from a wide draw to take up the running after first three furlongs, with Alfareeq also taking closer order in second – a move that impeded a host of runners.

Master Of The Seas lost several places as a result and found himself in 11th as he was produced wide in the straight by William Buick. He flew home entering the final furlong, getting to within half a length of Alfareeq and El Drama at the line.

Charlie Appleby said: “It was a messy race and slightly frustrating for Master Of The Seas, who did well to stay on his feet halfway round. We were on the back foot from that point but he ran a very gallant race in defeat. We will probably press on to Dubai World Cup Night for the Dubai Turf.”
