Manobo makes it three from three with Saint-Cloud Listed win

Racenews

Progressive three-year-old Manobo maintained his unbeaten record with a comprehensive victory in the Listed Prix Turenne over a mile and a half at Saint-Cloud, France, on Friday, 10 September.

The Charlie Appleby-trained son of Sea The Stars, who beat Derby runner-up Mojo Star on his debut at Newbury before winning a Kempton Park novice race, broke well and was soon sent on into a length and a half lead by James Doyle.

He kicked for home turning in and readily increased his advantage in the straight, crossing the line 10 lengths clear of Kertez.

Charlie Appleby said: “We came here today full of confidence with Manobo, who is a very strong galloper. It looks as though he could go further in trip and he is going to be a lovely four-year-old.

“He will have gained a lot of experience today with the travelling over and different running style. Hopefully, he can build on this and we will potentially look at returning to France for the G2 Prix Chaudenay on Arc weekend at Longchamp.”
