Legend Of Time bounced back to winning ways as he overcame a troubled passage to get up in the shadow of the post in the G2 Pennine Ridge Stakes at Aqueduct on Saturday, 25 May.

Fifth on his US debut in the G2 American Turf Stakes earlier this month, the Charlie Appleby-trained three-year-old stumbled slightly leaving the stalls and raced in fifth of the six runners.

Legend Of Time was taken to the rear of the field by Joel Rosario approaching the back straight and the Godolphin colt appeared full of running as the pace increased at the top of the lane.

Having moved up the inside rail to take fourth a furlong and a half out, Legend Of Time found himself caught in a pocket behind White Palomino and Cable Ready passing the furlong pole.

Legend Of Time quickened smartly when Cable Ready shifted out approaching the final half-furlong and swooped late to collar White Palomino in the final stride for a head victory.

Joel Rosario said: “I was trying to save ground on Legend Of Time and that’s how we ended up trying to find some room. I was hoping that there would be an opening at some point and it came at the end, so it was lucky.

“That’s how European horses like to do it – they can finish fast – and he’s a lovely horse to ride. I’m very thankful to Charlie and Godolphin for the opportunity.”
