Kitesurf impressive in G3 Prix Allez France

Racenews

Four-year-old Dubawi filly Kitesurf showed her quality when winning the 10-furlong G3 Prix Allez France in good style at Longchamp, France, on Sunday, 29 April.

She overcame a number of disadvantages – making her seasonal debut, dropping down in distance and carrying a penalty among them – to triumph for Godolphin, trainer Andre Fabre and jockey Mickael Barzalona.

Kitesurf was settled in fifth of the seven runners towards the outside and then moved up to race fourth turning in.

She continued to make progress in the straight, challenged for the lead over a furlong out and soon went ahead. Kitesurf ran on to beat Listen In by two lengths in 2m 4.94s on good going.

Lisa-Jane Graffard of Godolphin said: “This was a very good performance by Kitesurf on her seasonal comeback when carrying a penalty.

“We had hoped she would improve three to four and she has not disappointed us.

“She went to Newmarket for a break during the winter and her activities at the Godolphin pre-training centre included dressage which seems to have helped her a lot.

“There are no firm plans at the moment – we will see how she comes out of this race and then decide whether to stick to a mile and a quarter or step her back up to a mile and a half.

“The Prix Corrida (G2, Saint-Cloud, 1m 2f 110y, May 21) is among the possibilities for her next race.”
