International stars await Always Smile in Sun Chariot

Always Smile takes on challengers from the UK, France, Ireland and South Africa in a cosmopolitan renewal of the mile G1 Kingdom of Bahrain Sun Chariot Stakes (16.00hrs local time) at Newmarket, UK, on Saturday, October 1.

The Saeed bin Suroor-trained four-year-old finished fourth in a seven-furlong G3 at Goodwood on July 29, but ran a better race when third behind Alice Springs and Very Special in the G1 Falmouth Stakes over a mile of Newmarket’s July Course on July 8.

The Cape Cross filly was also third over a mile in the G2 Duke Of Cambridge Stakes at Royal Ascot and started her 2016 campaign with a game neck success in a Listed handicap over the same trip at York in May.

Andrea Atzeni partners Always Smile, who is drawn nine and takes on eight fillies and mares including the 2016 G1 J&B Met heroine Smart Call, Alice Springs, three-time G1 scorer Ervedya and last year’s G1 Juddmonte International winner Arabian Queen.

Saeed bin Suroor reported: "This trip of a mile suits Always Smile and she looks to be in good condition at the moment.

"I am hoping for a better run from her this time."
