Harry Angel 'a serious performer'

Clive Cox talks of his pride at training Godolphin runners at Royal Ascot and gives an insight into their preparation for the meeting.

I am very excited to have two horses from my yard running in Godolphin colours at Royal Ascot next week. I feel a sense of pride.

The two, Profitable and Harry Angel, have been left with me (after purchase), though it is not actually the first time we will have had a Godolphin runner at the Royal meeting.

When Profitable ran in Alan Spence's colours last year, Godolphin were already involved in the ownership.

I am really looking forward to Royal Ascot this year. Both horses, Profitable and Harry Angel, have trained very well, and they are sending out the right signals.

Profitable, who will be defending his G1 King's Stand Stakes 'title' on Tuesday, has been pleasing me at home.

He's had a slightly different preparation this year because of the dry Spring here. We took him to France (for some ease in the ground) and he has trained very well indeed since that run at Deauville. I'm very happy with him.

I expect them to water before the first day. I'd be very surprised if they didn't start with a good surface. Chris Stickels, the clerk of the course, does a good job, so I am confident we will get decent ground.

Harry Angel is being aimed at Friday's G1 Commonwealth Cup, and despite his lack of experience, I am upbeat about his chances.

He is really growing in confidence. I'm thrilled with the feeling he is giving us since he broke the track record in the G3 Sandy Lane Stakes at Haydock at his last start.

I honestly think Harry Angel is very good. I've always had a lot of confidence in his ability and he's still not the finished article. He's shown a lot of greenness in his behaviour in the stalls. But I think we've got a serious performer.

I am very pleased with our team at this stage, and very proud to be saddling runners for His Highness Sheikh Mohammed.
