Grand Prix Third For Cloth Of Stars

Cloth Of Stars ran well to finish third in the G1 Juddmonte Grand Prix de Paris over 12 furlongs at Saint-Cloud, France, on the evening of Thursday, July 14.

Cloth Of Stars ran well to finish third in the G1 Juddmonte Grand Prix de Paris over 12 furlongs at Saint-Cloud, France, on the evening of Thursday, July 14.

The three-year-old Sea The Stars colt, trained by Andre Fabre and partnered by Pierre-Charles Boudot, was held up in fifth on the inside as Beacon Rock led the eight-strong field at a good early pace.

Cloth Of Stars made considerable progress after entering the straight and went second with a furlong and half to race.

He was relegated to third at the distance but rallied strongly and finished a neck behind the runner-up, Red Verdon, at the line, while Mont Ormel won by a length and quarter in a time of 2m 29.56s on ground described as good to soft.

The second Godolpin runner, Talismanic (Andre Fabre/Mickael Barzalona), finished well to snatch fifth, just over a length behind Cloth Of Stars.

Lisa-Jane Graffard, Godolphin's representative in France commented: "Cloth of Stars ran really well and showed a good turn of foot.

"He has bounced back from his eighth in the G1 Investec Derby and proved he stays a mile and a half.

"This means there will be more options for him as he can race either over 10 or 12 furlongs.

"There are no plans for Cloth Of Stars at the moment, while Talismanic would have preferred more cut in the ground."
