Good Cheer looking to rebound in G1 Alabama Stakes

Kentucky Oaks heroine Good Cheer hopes to avenge a first career defeat when she re-opposes La Cara in the G1 Alabama Stakes at Saratoga, USA, on Saturday, 16 August.
The daughter of Medaglia d’Oro makes a second straight appearance at the New York track after trailing home fifth behind all-the-way winner La Cara on a sloppy track in June’s G1 Acorn Stakes.
Good Cheer was previously undefeated in seven starts for Brad Cox, a sequence that included three consecutive G2 wins before her impressive victory in the Churchill Downs Classic on the first Friday in May.
Michael Banahan, Director of Bloodstock, Godolphin USA, said: “Good Cheer has bounced back very well from her first defeat in the Acorn. Brad has been very happy with her, and Luis [Saez] was especially pleased when he worked her last Saturday.
“She will have a small field to contend with in the Alabama but hopefully she will be able to turn the tables with La Cara, who defeated her in the Acorn.
“We expect to get her season back on track with a big performance and hopefully join Questing as our second winner of this famous race.”
