Godolphin Horses To Follow In 2016 - France

J A McGrath
Andre Fabre names some key horses to follow in France this season

ANCIENT HISTORY
Colt 3yo (Shamardal - Antiquities)
Andre Fabre: He is set to make his racecourse debut in the Prix Gyges, a race over a mile for unraced colts at Saint-Cloud this Wednesday. He showed a lot of ability in his homework at 2, and I was disappointed I couldn't get a run into him last year. We just ran out of time. He grew over the winter but needed more time than some of the others to come to hand. If he confirms the good impression he has made at home, he could be a useful horse.

CLOTH OF STARS
Colt 3yo (Sea The Stars - Strawberry Fledge)
Andre Fabre: He impressed me when he won his comeback race at Saint-Cloud, and again when he won Sunday's G2 Prix Greffulhe, over a mile and a quarter, at the same course. He is another, who needs a strongly-run race, but he handles all types of ground. We have been thinking about whether he should take his chance at Epsom in the G1 Investec Derby on June 4, but the G1 Prix du Jockey-Club at Chantilly, a day later, also remains an option at this stage. We will see the rest of the 'trials' before deciding.

COME ALIVE
Filly 3yo (Dansili - Portrayal)
Andre Fabre: This is a lovely filly to train, and she remains on course for the G1 Poule d'Essai des Pouliches at Deauville on May 15. She has done well since winning her first start of the season. She has only run on soft ground so far, but we hope that she will act on anything. She is still on a learning curve, having only run once at two and once at three.

STRATTON STREET
Colt 2yo (Street Cry - Ihtifal)
Andre Fabre: Everything went wrong on his racecourse debut, but he won his next start very comfortably and is now being aimed at the Listed Prix la Flèche, over 5f, at Chantilly on June 11. There is the possibility he could also run before that, on May 20.

TERRITORIES
Colt 4yo (Invincible Spirit - Taranto)
Andre Fabre: He returned to the yard from a long break, having done well physically and mentally. He is classy, with a good turn-of-foot, but he needs good ground and a fast pace for things to fall his way. It would be extremely demanding for him to return to racing in the G1 Queen Anne Stakes at Royal Ascot. His first target is more likely to be the G3 Prix Bertrand du Breuil Longines at Chantilly on June 19 - where he will not have to carry a penalty.

ULTRA
Colt 3yo (Manduro - Epitome)
Andre Fabre: Obviously, it is a blow to have lost the first half of the season (through a set-back) with a horse like him, especially when you look at how the form has worked out. The aim is to get him back to the track for August and he has only just started trotting. He is very well in himself and has a great mentality.

USHERETTE
Filly 4yo (Shamardal - Monday Show)
Andre Fabre: Her recent Newmarket win was special for us. His Highness Sheikh Mohammed is a patient owner, who deserves to see his patience rewarded, and it was on that occasion. I regard her so highly that I ran her in a G1 on only her third start. Unfortunately, she wasn't mentally ready. Her programme will take in the G2 Duke Of Cambridge Stakes, the G1 Falmouth Stakes and the G1 Prix Rothschild. She could step up in trip later in the year.
