G3 Prix Allez France reappearance for Kitesurf

Racenews

Kitesurf drops back to a mile and a quarter on her seasonal return in the G3 Prix Allez France at Longchamp, France, on Sunday, 29 April.

The four-year-old Dubawi filly, trained by Andre Fabre, has raced over further for most of her career, including when staying on well to win the 12-furlong G3 Prix de Royaumont at Chantilly in June.

Kitesurf lost out by a short neck and a head in the G2 Prix de Royallieu, run over the same course and distance as the Prix de Royaumont, in September and ended her three-year-old campaign with fifth in the extended 15-furlong G1 Prix Royal-Oak at Saint-Cloud in October.

Ridden again by Mickael Barzalona, she faces six rivals including recent Longchamp Listed winner Bebe D’Amour, who was second to Kitesurf in the Prix de Royaumont, and German G1 runner-up Son Macia. Lisa-Jane Graffard of Godolphin explained: “Kitesurf is in very good form.

“She has been working well, but has to carry a penalty for her G3 victory last season and this will be her first start of the year.

“It is forecast to rain and she loves cut in the ground. We are happy with her physically and hope that she can run well.”

Andre Fabre and Mickael Barzalona also team up with two unexposed three-year-old colts at Longchamp on Sunday.

The first is Deemster, who makes his seasonal debut in the seven-runner Listed Prix du Pont Neuf over a mile. The son of Invincible Spirit made two appearances, both on Polytrack at Chantilly, last year and was an easy winner of a seven-furlong maiden on his most recent outing in November.

Raven’s Pass colt Mount Pelion goes for the 10-furlong Listed Prix de Suresnes against six rivals on his second start.

He triumphed on his only outing to date in November when gaining a half-length success in a Polytrack maiden over nine furlongs at Chantilly.

Lisa-Jane Graffard added: “Deemster is a colt that we like, but we wouldn’t want to see too much rain for him.

“He is coming up against some race-fit rivals, but we are hoping that he can acquit himself well and we will know where to go with him for the rest of the season.

“Mount Pelion won his only start nicely and the form of that race has worked out well. We hope that he will be a Group horse in the future and this can be a nice springboard going forward.

“We have been really happy with his work and Andre Fabre thinks a lot of him.”
