G2 Barbara Fritchie second for Moiety

Racenews

Moiety resumed racing in 2018 with second place in the G2 Barbara Fritchie Stakes over seven furlongs on sloppy dirt at Laurel Park, USA, on Saturday, 17 February.

The five-year-old Bernardini mare, trained by Eoin Harty and ridden by Elvis Trujillo for the first time, broke well and always raced in second of the five runners.

She could not match the winner Miss Locust Point, who made all to score by four and a half lengths in 1m 24.13s, but held off the third Berned by a length and a half.

Moiety has finished first or second on 10 of her 11 starts, with three victories at six and a half furlongs plus her biggest success in the Listed Mahoning Distaff over six furlongs at Mahoning Valley in November

Eoin Harty commented: “Moiety is a very, very genuine filly.

“She ran her usual game race today in the snowy conditions.

“She has never disappointed me racing or in training and is very sound. This potentially was her final race.”
