G1 third for Man Of Promise in Al Quoz Sprint

Racenews

Man Of Promise rounded off an impressive Meydan season with a first G1 placing in the Al Quoz Sprint on Dubai World Cup Night, Saturday, 26 March.

The son of Into Mischief was making a third consecutive appearance over six furlongs for Charlie Appleby following decisive Dubai World Cup Carnival victories in the Listed Dubai Sprint and G3 Nad Al Sheba Turf Sprint.

After showing good early pace, Man Of Promise led a group of six runners that came up the stands’ side and the five-year-old continued to race prominently as the field converged with three furlongs to race.

Man Of Promise kicked on with A Case Of You down the stands’ rail a furlong out, with the Irish sprinter asserting in the final half-furlong to score by a length and a quarter. Happy Romance collared Man Of Promise for second close home, with Naval Crown making good late headway to take fourth.

Charlie Appleby said: “Man Of Promise has run a solid race. I think we might contemplate dropping him back in trip and the stiff five furlongs of the G1 King’s Stand Stakes might suit him. He is mixing it with the best sprinters in the world now and deserves to campaign at this level back in Europe.”
