Godolphin Lifetime Care's (GLC) flagbearer, Osborne Bulls, made a heartwarming visit to HammondCare’s Strathearn House in the Hunter Valley, bringing smiles and providing equine therapy to residents. This visit is part of a series of post-racing endeavours in which the Godolphin Lifetime Care flagbearers have been actively involved recently.

Accompanied by his custodian Lori McKern and companion Shetland pony Rosie, Osborne Bulls, affectionately known as “Ozzie”, spent precious moments interacting with the residents. The occasion was filled with happiness, as the humans enjoyed a sponge cake in celebration of Horse's Birthday while the horses received many carrots and pats.

Emma Ridley, Godolphin Australia’s public affairs manager, expressed the joy of bringing a GLC flagbearer to HammondCare’s Strathearn House.

"We are immensely proud of Osborne Bulls and his positive impact as a flagbearer in our Godolphin Lifetime Care program. His visit to HammondCare's Strathearn House shows our commitment to bringing joy and equine therapy to those in need."

“The ongoing research is affirming that there are health benefits of equine therapy. Osborne Bulls' presence at this event aligns with Godolphin’s commitment to improving people's quality of life through the influence of thoroughbreds.”

Osborne Bulls retired from top-level racing in 2020 with an impressive record of nine victories and achieved a memorable third-place finish in 2018 The Everest, even after being a late inclusion.

As a flagbearer in the Godolphin Lifetime Care program, Osborne Bulls now plays a crucial role in promoting the versatility of thoroughbreds. The program aims to educate, create awareness and foster a passion for thoroughbreds, encouraging their transition into pleasure horses, show jumping, eventing and equine therapy and rehabilitation programs.

Vin Cox, managing director of Godolphin Australia, highlighted the impact of Osborne Bulls' visit on Tuesday: “We extend our gratitude to HammondCare’s Strathearn House for embracing this opportunity and providing an environment for residents to experience the benefits of interaction with horses like Osborne Bulls and Rosie.”

“Opportunities where we as an industry can connect the thoroughbred with our communities are hugely important to the future of our much-loved sport.”
