Egot on top in G3 Prix de Seine-et-Oise

Racenews

Progressive three-year-old Egot opened up some exciting options for 2022 with a first G3 success in the Prix de Seine-et-Oise over six furlongs at Chantilly, France, on Tuesday, 26 October.

The Andre Fabre-trained colt, twice successful at Listed level over seven furlongs already this season, was held up towards the rear as all 14 runners elected to race up the stands’ rail.

Egot took closer order entering the final quarter-mile before quickening strongly between horses to hit the front with just under half a furlong to race. Mickael Barzalona pushed out the Godolphin homebred to prevail by half a length over Brad The Brief.

Lisa-Jane Graffard of Godolphin said: “Egot has stepped up on his previous efforts and looks an exciting horse for next year. He has done nothing but improve physically throughout this season and appears to still have a lot more to come.

“He looks quite versatile and a horse with a lot of speed without being a natural sprinter, although he might get quicker as he gets older and stronger.”
