Dubai Future storms home in Listed Wolferton Stakes

Racenews

Dubai Future gained the third Listed win of his career with an emphatic victory in the 10-furlong Wolferton Stakes at Royal Ascot on Tuesday, 14 June.

The son of Dubawi has predominately raced at Meydan over the past three seasons, twice picking up Listed prizes at the Dubai World Cup Carnival in addition to finishing fifth in the 2021 G1 Dubai Sheema Classic.

After breaking smartly under Daniel Tudhope, Dubai Future settled in fifth on the outside of the field before quickening powerfully to take up the running just inside the final quarter-mile.

The six-year-old readily took charge of affairs, powering clear before being eased close home for a cosy three-length success.

His trainer Saeed bin Suroor said: "The cheekpieces keep Dubai Future more focused. I like Danny Tudhope - he always gives a horse a chance. He has ridden horses for me before and we have had luck with him.

"The horse won well and we will look for a Group race for him now.”

Daniel Tudhope added: “It was my first time on Dubai Future and I didn't know too much about him. He stays a mile and a half, and they went a good gallop, which suited him.

"I was a bit surprised as to how far in front I was, but he found plenty and I would have been surprised if something had come past me.

"To ride for Saeed and put on these colours is great and there is no better place to ride winners than here. I have some nice rides through the rest of the week for Saeed, so fingers crossed.”
