Dissolute In Line For Breakthrough In National Stakes

The highly-regarded colt Dissolute gets the opportunity to score his breakthrough win when he tackles the G3 National Stakes at Morphettville, Australia, on Saturday May 21.

After showing great promise in trials prior to his racing debut, Dissolute (John O'Shea/Craig Williams) got his racing career underway with a sound fourth at Canterbury in Sydney in January.

Improvement at his next start when second in good company at Caulfield led trainer John O'Shea to step the son of New Approach up to Stakes level in the Listed Redoute's Choice Stakes, again at Caulfield, where he finished sixth.

"We weren't disappointed last start, he drew inside and got a bit lost," O'Shea said.

"With the experience he gained from that and in a more suitable race at Morphettville, we're looking for him to take a step up."

Dissolute is up against a field that lacks a standout runner, with the filly Phoenix Rising shaping as one of his strongest opponents.
