Dahlia Stakes return for Skiffle

Lightly-raced Skiffle makes her seasonal debut in the G2 Dahlia Stakes (14.20hrs local time) over nine furlongs at Newmarket, UK, on Sunday, May 7.

The four-year-old filly kept on to finish third behind Somehow over the same trip on her latest appearance in the G3 Snow Fairy Fillies Stakes at the Curragh, Ireland, on August 28, 2016.

The daughter of Dubawi had been supplemented for the Epsom Downs Classic, the 12-furlong G1 Oaks in June, in which she faded to finish fifth, following a comfortable length victory in a Goodwood Listed contest over nearly a mile and a quarter the previous month.

Her trainer Charlie Appleby said: "Skiffle has done well from three to four and I have been pleased with her preparation.

"Stepping up in trip will be her forte later in the season, but this looks a good starting point and she will be fine on the forecast quick ground."

Skiffle, with William Buick again on board, takes on eight fillies and mares including Somehow, G1 E P Taylor Stakes seventh Nezwaah and Muffri'ha, who was third in the G1 Jebel Hatta Sponsored By Emirates Airline at Meydan, UAE, in March.
