Cruzeiro do Sul and La Quemada look to follow up strong last-time-out efforts in Group company when they return to Tokyo, Japan, for the G3 Epsom Cup on Saturday, 10 May.

Both homebred five-year-olds have posted Stakes wins at the course, with Cruzeiro do Sul annexing the Setsubun Stakes at the start of 2024 and La Quemada taking the Bubaigawara Stakes on this card 12 months ago.

Fine Needle entire Cruzeiro do Sul, an impressive Listed winner at Nakayama at three, makes his second appearance of 2025 for Yoshitada Takahashi after staying on to finish fifth in the G2 Nakayama Kinen in early March.

La Quemada remains over nine furlongs, with the Teruhiko Chida-trained son of American Patriot having overcome trouble in running to grab third in February’s G3 Kokura Daishoten.
