Classic credentials of Ispolini tested at Sandown Park

Racenews

Ispolini is out to continue Charlie Appleby’s excellent start to the UK Flat season as the three-year-old colt returns in the G3 Classic Trial over a mile and a quarter at Sandown Park on Friday, 27 April.

The son of Dubawi was a decisive two-length winner of a Polytrack maiden over the same distance at Kempton Park on 29 November, his second start.

He was slow away but ran promisingly to finish fourth on his debut over an extended mile on turf at Nottingham earlier the same month.

William Buick, on board at Kempton Park, takes the ride again on Ispolini, who faces eight rivals including recent French G3 scorer Chilean and Sevenna Star, a 14-length winner at Windsor earlier this month.

Charlie Appleby commented “Ispolini has done well from two to three and stayed the mile and a quarter well when winning his maiden at Kempton on his latest start.

“We always thought that he would make a better three-year-old and anything he did last season was going to be a bonus.

“He has been pleasing us at home and this race looks like a natural progression.”
