Chesspiece not for passing in Glasgow Stakes

Racenews

Improving three-year-old Chesspiece posted the biggest win of his fledgling career as he bravely made all in the Listed Glasgow Stakes at Hamilton, UK, on Friday, 21 July.

The Nathaniel colt, who had finished third in the G2 Queen’s Vase at Royal Ascot, broke on terms and soon established a three-quarter length advantage over Circle Of Fire.

Chesspiece continued to travel kindly for James Doyle and found plenty when Circle Of Fire and Sea Of Roses attempted to challenge for the lead over a furlong from home.

The Godolphin runner hit the line well to score by a length and a quarter over Sea Of Roses, providing trainers Simon and Ed Crisford with a first winner in the royal blue silks.
