Albert Park after starring role in G3 Cecil B DeMille Stakes

Racenews

Unbeaten two-year-old Albert Park steps up to G3 level for the Cecil B DeMille Stakes over a mile at Del Mar, USA, on Sunday, 1 December.

The Street Sense colt switches to turf following two All-Weather victories over shorter for Michael Stidham, most recently when staying on well to comfortably take the extended six-furlong Fitz Dixon Jr Memorial Juvenile Stakes at Presque Isle Downs in October. He made a winning debut at Arlington in September with a length success in a six-furlong maiden.

Albert Park, who is partnered by Florent Geroux, breaks from stall five in a field of 13 that also includes Stakes winners Hit The Road, Encoder and Fore Left plus debut scorers Kanderel and Go Time.

Michael Stidham said: “Albert Park has only run on synthetic surfaces so far but his dam was a G1 winner on turf and I think he will handle the switch. He will easily cope with the step up to a mile and we feel he has a chance at this level following a nice Stakes win at Presque Isle Downs.”
